ATLANTA — As soon as the yellow flag flew for pass interference, Younghoe Koo knew he would have a chance to win it for the Atlanta Falcons.

Koo kicked a career-best 58-yard field goal with two seconds remaining as the Falcons rallied for a 26-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints without scoring an offensive touchdown Sunday.

Koo kicked four field goals in all, also connecting from 53, 44 and 42 yards to give the Falcons (2-2) a desperately needed home victory in their division opener against their oldest rival in the NFC South. It was his eighth winning kick in the final 10 seconds since the beginning of the 2021 season — the most in the league during that span.

This is Koo’s sixth season with the Falcons, and they have come to trust his right foot in the clutch.

“We’ve been in that situation a lot, and you know that’s how it is in this league,” said the 30-year-old Koo, who was born in South Korea, moved to the United States with his family at age 12 and later played at Georgia Southern University.
