Kennedy: Netflix’s ‘Adolescence’ is jaw-dropping TV

I’m not a TV critic, but a new Netflix series has wormed its way into my brain.

Watching the four-part crime drama “Adolescence” last week, I found myself clutching a blanket. At points in Episode 3, I actually felt my jaw drop.

And it was not graphic violence or contrived suspense that put me on edge. It was watching the anguished parents of an angelic-looking teenager who is jarringly arrested in his own bedroom and accused of a heinous murder.

The last time I looked, “Adolescence” was the No. 1 show on Netflix. One respected critic called it “nearly perfect television.” It had a 99% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In capsule, it’s a British crime drama about a baby-faced 13-year-old boy accused of killing a female classmate who may have taunted him.
