DENVER — For the better part of two weeks, the Atlanta Braves have been winning much more often than they lose.

It’s just that digging out of the hole they were in will take a while.

The Braves, already assured of a third straight series win, missed out on the sweep Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field, where Colorado’s Brenton Doyle hit a tiebreaking home run off reigning National Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale in the third inning and the Rockies held on for the 2-1 win.

Atlanta (14-16), which beat the Rockies 6-3 on Monday and 8-2 on Tuesday, was trying to get to .500 for the first time this year.

The Braves started the season 0-7 and were 5-13 — eight games below .500 — after a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on April 16, but they have won nine of 12 games since while winning three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Rockies. They swept the Twins won the first and last games against the Cardinals and missed out on the sweep of the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
