The East Ridge City Council is voting Thursday on the relocation of the municipality’s dog park, which city staff proposed moving to Springvale Park or Camp Jordan.

Residents say Springvale is unsafe and lacks restroom access, and they’ve started a petition in support of keeping the dog park at its location next to city hall.

At the council’s Feb. 27 meeting, City Manager Scott Miller said he recommends relocating the dog park to prevent barking dogs from disrupting events at the new town center.

The center’s pavilion, which features garage-style doors that can be opened to the outside, will host city events and be available to rent for luncheons, wedding receptions and birthday parties, he said.
