Starting May 1, Chattanooga’s electric and internet utility will raise TV rates by as much as $9 per month.
EPB officials said that occurs as content providers continue to drive up the costs of TV subscriptions nationwide amid a shift to streaming.
The price of EPB FiTV packages will increase by $4 per month for the bronze tier, $9 per month for the silver tier and $9 per month for the gold tier. This will be on top of rate increases the utility approved in April 2024 and 2023. Most of the utility’s customers are at the silver level, according to EPB spokesperson J. Ed. Marston.
EPB’s chief financial officer, Greg Eaves, told the board of directors Friday that the utility’s content costs have gone up about 9% per year.
