The Red Bank Lions walked off their home field for the final time this season with their heads held high Friday night, and for good reason.

Matt Roberson’s baseball team exemplified the fight it had shown all season by taking Upperman to a third game in best-of-three TSSAA Class 3A sectional, rallying back from a 5-2 deficit in the second game of the series to win 6-5 on Friday afternoon after losing 4-3 in nine innings Thursday night.

Despite falling 7-4 in the final game later Friday, the Lions (24-18) will look back on this year as one of progress.

“From my first year here until now, these guys have just gone out there and fought,” Roberson said. “I think the more they look back on this season, they will realize how special it was. Their names will go up on the clubhouse forever, and the district and region champion plaques will be up there forever.

“The 2025 Lions will be remembered for a team that not a lot of people believed in, but we made them believe in us. They gave me everything they have got.”
