Post-tornado church construction resumed
What a wonderful sight it is to see that after four-plus years, construction has resumed on the Grace Baptist Church and School at the corner of Shallowford and Jenkins roads.
The church and school were demolished in the Easter tornado of 2020.
Local funds quickly got the site cleared and the rebuilding started, but needed disaster funds got stalled as various government agencies couldn’t get their acts together. A huge steel skeleton sat at that corner for years … waiting and waiting.
Through the kind accommodation of the people of Morris Hill Baptist Church and First Seventh-day Adventist Church, Grace’s church and school have continued to thrive in borrowed facilities.
