Red Bank’s White Oak Bicycle Co-op has purchased more than 50 bicycles for local elementary schools, thanks to a national grant from the Outride Foundation.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our volunteers to assemble new bikes and to bring bikes directly into the schools where children can learn to ride,” Blake Pierce, the co-op’s executive director, said.

The bikes will be divided into three fleets to be distributed to Orchard Knob Elementary, Calvin Donaldson Elementary and the Chris L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center. Along with the bicycles, White Oak will also provide helmets for riders.

The co-op is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cycling and community wellness. Its volunteers fix and refurbish donated bikes to be given to schools, nonprofits and other agencies.

In 2025 alone, White Oak has distributed more than 850 bicycles in the community, and more than 3,000 since its inception in 2020.
