ATLANTA — Luke Cowart is a longtime fan of Georgia Tech, but he can’t remember the last time the Yellow Jackets entered an Atlantic Coast Conference football game as a two-touchdown favorite.

Need proof? His name on the social media platform X is “Georgia Tech pain account” — so, yes, he’s been let down by this program a time or two.

Earlier this week, though, BetMGM Sportsbook listed Georgia Tech as a 14-point favorite over Wake Forest — a reflection of the first 4-0 start since 2014 for the Yellow Jackets, who are No. 16 in the AP Top 25 for their highest ranking since 2015.

It’s more than just buzz. The ceiling appears high for a team likely favored in all but one of its remaining regular-season games, the nonconference finale against reigning Southeastern Conference champion Georgia on Black Friday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

The stands at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium are filling up on Saturdays as the Yellow Jackets have entered national chatter and quarterback Haynes King creeps into the Heisman Trophy conversation.
