Maybe the only thing that could have topped what might have been Josh Robinson’s most satisfying victory in his 15 years as head football coach at Northwest Whitfield High School came after a dominant first half for the Bruins that turned into a 49-0 win over Region 7-AAA rival Heritage on Friday night in Tunnel Hill.
Leading 28-0, Robinson had to sprint into the locker room and change into a suit to accompany his daughter in the school’s homecoming ceremony.
The break didn’t slow Northwest’s momentum in the second half as the Bruins improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the region.
“I think this was our most complete game of the year,” Robinson said after his 101st career win. “I’m really proud of our guys because Heritage is a really good team, and we knew they were not going to quit at any point. Really, this is all about our guys tonight.”
