CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Notre Dame senior Callie McCormick marveled after hearing sophomore teammate MiMi Lee’s cumulative stat line from the final four games of a historic basketball season for the Lady Fighting Irish.
Lee showed her superstar ability on the court for the final time this season as she went toe to toe with one of the nation’s premier hoopers, University School of Jackson junior Haylen Ayers, in Friday’s TSSAA Division II-A state semifinals at the BlueCross Basketball Championships at Austin Peay State University’s F&M Bank Arena.
Notre Dame’s electric 5-foot-5 point guard scored 128 points over her team’s final four games, which included 26 in the 61-44 season-ending loss to USJ.
Lee scored all nine points produced by the Lady Irish in the second quarter, and she opened the second half with a powerful finish through the middle of the lane to cut their deficit to 28-26. Lee would finish 10-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-9 from 3-point range.
“MiMi’s growth from her freshman year to now has been incredible,” Notre Dame coach Jason Hill said. “She should be known around the state now. She does not back down at all and has a great supporting cast around her that has stepped up all season. Mentally, MiMi has grown so much. She is a next-level talent, and this is just a stepping stone for her.”
