Times’ take on Iran misses the point
The Chattanooga Times opinion writer (‘Iran War: A Ploy For Power Rooted In Racism,’ 03/03) once again trots out his one-trick ponies: anti-Trump and racism. It’s hard to take anyone seriously when all they have to offer is racist nonsense to every situation.
According to this person, the attacks on Iran are based on the color of their skin: brown. Are they even brown?!
The naivety displayed by this person is astounding. He writes with authority, as if he is in the room with those negotiating with Iran or those tracking Iran’s offensive weaponry. The writer lauds Obama’s “expertly crafted” nuclear deal, but neglects to mention the proliferation of deeply buried sites throughout Iran’s territory. You don’t need facilities hundreds of feet below the surface to produce uranium for power and medical purposes.
Imminent threat is downplayed with a foolish comment about 10 years hence. Are “death to Israel” and “death to America” just meaningless slogans? The writer is exercising his inner Rip Van Winkle. Has the writer already dismissed the Iranian-backed attack on Israel in October 2023, attacks on shipping or the attacks on U.S. personnel and interests around the world over decades? It’s a lot too late to act after a mushroom cloud goes up over Tel Aviv or a dirty bomb detonates in NYC!
