Tennessee picked up its eighth men’s basketball player through the NCAA transfer portal Thursday afternoon, receiving a commitment from former VCU forward Christian Fermin.

The 6-foot-10, 225-pounder from Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, played in 72 combined games for the Rams during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, averaging 5.2 points and 4.0 rebounds as a sophomore and 4.6 points and 3.1 rebounds as a junior. He played in only four November contests this past season before taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, so he will have one year of eligibility in Knoxville.

Fermin and former Loyola of Chicago forward Miles Rubin will be Tennessee’s tallest players in 2026-27 at 6-10, with Kennesaw State transfer Braedan Lue and signee Chris Washington Jr. out of Murfreesboro’s Providence Christian Academy next at 6-9. DeWayne Brown II, who was a freshman forward this past season for the Volunteers, is 6-8.

The Vols have a portal class that ranks second nationally, according to 247Sports.com.
