On May 4, Phil Spencer of Ringgold pulled up to his carport in his Chevrolet pickup truck.

Two doves landed on the hood of Spencer’s truck. They touched down gently on the hood and then cocked their heads and rolled their eyes to check out the driver.

“One just came right up to the windshield, and one was back a ways,” Spencer said in an interview.

Doves are mentioned about 50 times in the Bible, and Spencer immediately started to wonder if maybe this pair of bold birds had special meaning.

“You know, I’m not really, really deep into religion,” he said. “But I remembered my upbringing, and I thought, ‘You know, wonder if that’s a message to me.'”
