A Sequatchie County man is being held in the Cobb County, Georgia, jail on a fugitive from justice warrant after he allegedly shot his father multiple times at a home in the Cagle Mountain community.
Anthony Peacock Rumbel, 21, is accused of killing his father, Michael Rumbel, 46, at a home on Green Forest Road, Sequatchie County Sheriff Bill Phillips said in an emailed statement.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. CDT Wednesday. Green Forest Road is about a half mile north of Highway 111.

“A multistate be-on-the-lookout was issued for Rumbel and his vehicle,” Phillips said of an all-points bulletin issued from Tennessee. “He was captured a short time later in the Marietta, Georgia, area after being spotted by Georgia authorities.”
A criminal homicide charge awaits Rumbel in Tennessee.

“The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office has an employee related to those involved in this incident and, therefore, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be assuming the role of lead investigative agency in this case,” Phillips said.

The state agency couldn’t release any new case details, spokesperson Mariah Dunlop said via email.
“This investigation is still active and ongoing,” Dunlop said.
Jail records at the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office show Rumbel was booked on the fugitive from justice warrant at 1:15 a.m. Thursday. There was no information available about whether Rumbel agreed to be extradited on the charge, and Phillips said he was unaware of Rumbel’s extradition status.
The slaying marks the second suspected homicide in Sequatchie County in less than 24 hours.
A Fredonia Mountain couple was found dead Tuesday at their home in what has been described as a murder-suicide, according to authorities. Friends found the couple about 7 p.m. CDT Tuesday.
The couple’s family has not been located, Phillips said Thursday in a text. The couple has not been named since the incident involves a suspected suicide.
“They have been married for 64 years and dated since they were in their early teens,” Phillips said.
The couple had recently been going through a tough time, he said. The couple recently observed the anniversary of a daughter’s death several years ago, and a son died earlier this year.
