Hudson Brock credited his desire and ability to launch his own company to his experience apprenticing with several local businesses in his youth.

Brock founded AlloHire, an agency that finds tech talent for Chattanooga firms, roughly three years ago. Through a new grant, the agency will soon launch its first apprenticeship program.

“We’ve had a front row seat to the absolute roller coaster over the past four years in terms of employment,” he told those gathered at the Construction Career Center on Monday to mark the start of National Youth Apprenticeship Week. “From COVID to a bunch of people going on unemployment, the great rehire, the great resignation, all of this. I think now it’s just this moment in time where we can come alongside and educate on the importance of developing young talent for retention.”

AlloHire, EPB, Tiny Tigers Learning Center and AHS Consulting were each awarded $10,000 to start a new apprenticeship program for young people ages 16-24 in Hamilton County. The grants were distributed by BuildWithin, a national apprenticeship intermediary that selected Chattanooga as one of five Apprentice Innovation Districts in 2022 and is part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s efforts to expand and diversify registered apprenticeship programs.
