April Furth will serve as the new administrator of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, the city announced Thursday.
Furth comes to the city government from Vancouver, Washington, where she was director of community development for Clark County, a city news release said. She has experience in operational management and customer service from her time in the retail industry, the release said. She will take on her new role June 13.
“Our Parks and Outdoors department is one of the most innovative in the country and is aligned under a new identity as the first and only National Park City in the U.S.,” Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said in the release. “April Furth will lead the department under our vision of being a city in a park. I’m looking forward to working together to expand our amazing parks and highlight our natural resources in Chattanooga.”
Furth replaces previous Parks and Outdoors Administrator Scott Martin, who departed Chattanooga for a job in Virginia. Monica Kinsey has served as interim administrator since Martin’s departure.
“I am passionate about the importance of parks in all aspects of our lives, and I am honored to have the opportunity to execute the vision of Chattanooga as a National Park City,” Furth said in the release.
