Long before Dalton was known as the Carpet Capital of the World, there was a cafe.
Oakwood Cafe.
Hot plates with a meat and three sides. Southern staples: cornbread, fried okra and chicken. Neighbors, classmates and church-folk sitting together.
Nearly a century later, the cafe still exists.
Now it sits in the middle of a town now surrounded by factories. The kitchen still serves the same traditional fare, but now to families with smartphones splayed across tables.
