Authorities in Chattanooga are investigating an early morning house fire reported in the Birchwood area Thursday, according to a news release.

Shortly after 1 a.m., crews were dispatched to a home on Maple Lane after a report of a residential fire and arrived to find "over 40 percent of the home engulfed in flames," the release stated.

Multiple units were dispatched to assist, including the Dallas Bay, Highway 58 and the Tri-Community fire departments.

The home was destroyed, with an estimated loss value of $500,000, the released said.

It was determined through investigation that no one was in the home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
