Some computer systems at CHI Memorial were offline Tuesday as the health system’s parent company dealt with an “IT security incident” at some of its facilities.

“As a precautionary step, we have taken certain IT systems offline, which may include electronic health record systems and other systems,” a statement from hospital officials said. “Our facilities are following existing protocols for system outages and taking steps to minimize the disruption. We take our responsibility to ensure the privacy of our patients and IT security very seriously.”

Some patient procedures were rescheduled as a result.

“Patients will be contacted directly by their provider and/or care facility if their appointment is impacted,” the statement says.

CHI Memorial is owned by Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, which operates 142 hospitals and roughly 2,200 health care locations across 21 states.

CHI Memorial has three hospitals and numerous other health care facilities across Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia.
