To address what they say is a national donor breast milk shortage, Erlanger East Hospital has opened its second milk drop location in partnership with the Mother’s Milk Bank of Tennessee.

Milk collected from hundreds of volunteer mothers with surplus breast milk will be used to help local premature and at-risk infants, according to a news release. The location serves as a safe collection site for donated milk before it’s sent to the milk bank.

The opening was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday.
