New information in a Marion County missing person investigation indicates the subject of the probe, Stacy Annette Crawford, vanished almost three weeks earlier than originally thought.

Also new in the investigation is a theft arrest involving a person of interest and a $7,000 reward the family has offered for information on the location of Crawford's body, according to Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett.

Crawford, 44, of Whitwell, Tennessee, in northeast Marion County, is now believed to have gone missing July 21 somewhere in or around her hometown, Burnett said Monday in a phone interview. New information from Crawford's phone records led to the date change, according to detectives.

Since the investigation began, authorities have conducted ground searches using a cadaver K-9 without success and issued search warrants that produced electronic and physical evidence investigators believe will be valuable to the case, according to Burnett. Evidence from those searches was submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's crime lab in Nashville for analysis.

Meanwhile, detectives arrested Ronnie McFalls, 49, of Guild, Tennessee, charging him with theft of Crawford's vehicle and tampering with evidence, according to Burnett. McFalls allegedly had Crawford's vehicle and sold it, the sheriff said.

"He is a person of interest, but he's not a suspect at this time," Burnett said.

Over the past weeks, detectives have conducted dozens of interviews, and more interviews are pending as investigators sort through information in the case, he said.

Law enforcement has also been looking for Barbie Anderson to conduct a follow-up interview with her, Burnett said. Anderson was interviewed once, and detectives believe she could have more information in the case, he said.

However, Anderson has an active arrest warrant charging violation of probation and is now believed to be avoiding law enforcement, Burnett said. The warrant is unrelated to the missing person case, he said. The Sheriff's Office did not have a photo of Anderson.

Crawford is described as a white woman, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, 130 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes, according to authorities.

Crawford had lived at various locations in the county and was reported missing by her sister after she didn't call Crawford's son on his birthday, something she never failed to do before, Detective Gene Hargis said Monday in a phone interview.

Crawford's sister, Angela Simpson Williams, said the lack of movement in the case is wearing on the family, and the new time frame for her sister's disappearance is upsetting and confusing.

"It's a continuous loop of the unknown," Williams said Monday in a phone interview. "It's very hard to go day to day in that state. It's hard on all of us, the kids. We would just like some sort of closure."

Williams said the family holds onto a slim hope Crawford might be found alive, but they acknowledge that information so far in the case suggests she met with foul play.

The family feels no closer to answers.

"That's why we're offering the reward," she said.
