Mud Run gets down and dirty

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga gets down to the nitty-gritty of fundraising Saturday with the inaugural Chattanooga Mud Run.

This 5K-style contest features a military-inspired obstacle course with most of the obstacles surrounded by or consisting entirely of mud. Teams will traverse muddy belly crawls, slippery hill climbs, mazes, wooden walls and mud pits.

If it sounds like your kind of fun, you'll have to be content to attend as a spectator. According to the agency's website, www.habichatt.org, the capacity of 200 five-person teams has been registered.

You can see them in action starting at 8 a.m. at Greenway Farms off Hamill Road in Hixson.
