You may be seeing some preliminary work being done for the East Brainerd Road improvement project from Gray Road (near Ace Hardware) to Ooltewah-Ringgold Road. This is a state project, but trees already are being removed, houses being relocated and other signs that there may be relief from a congested East Brainerd road sometime in the near future.
The expansion of Shallowford Road from Gunbarrel to Jenkins Roads is also a state project. The Shallowford Road/Jenkins Road intersection will be a large round-about when the project is completed.
Goodwin Road behind Walmart is also due to be expanded to Jenkins Road. The project will help alleviate some of the congestion that will be caused by the East Brainerd and Shallowford roads being widened. Stay tuned for more updates.
