Volkswagen today opens $40 million Chattanooga training center

Volkswagen officials said today the opening of their new $40 million training center in Chattanooga marks the building of a world-class team.

Hans-Herbert Jagla, executive vice president of human resources for VW's Chattanooga operations, said the training center is "the beginning of an educational journey."

Horst Neumann, a member of Volkswagen AG's board of management, said Chattanooga employees will be offered a custom-tailored education and advanced training at the facility.

"I am impressed with the first view of progress" at the plant, he said. "Chattanooga will become a central location in the VW company."

VW's $1 billion auto assembly plant now under construction at Enterprise South is set to begin production early next year.
