Services set for local soldier killed in Afghanistan

A Chattanooga soldier who died Aug. 28 in Afghanistan will be buried Thursday.

U.S. Army Sgt. Patrick Durham, a Red Bank High School graduate, died when a roadside bomb exploded, relatives said.

He was among 49 Americans killed in Afghanistan in August, according to The Associated Press.

Friends told the Chattanooga Times Free Press last week that Durham had completed a tour of duty in Iraq before serving in Afghanistan, and that he was eager to come home to see his wife and children.

Lane Funeral Home said Saturday that visitation is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, 601 Ashland Terrace.
