LETTERS TO THE EDITORS

Show some proof of Fox News lies

With regard to (Clay) Bennett’s cartoon in last Sunday’s paper, Mr. Bennett implies that Fox News lies. Does Mr. Bennett have any hard evidence of this or is this just cowardly snipping? Come on, Mr. Bennett, give us some facts. Without specific details of your accusation I will assume that you are the liar.

Can you point to an example like the fake document used by Dan Rather during the Bush administration? How about some of the scandals associated with the New York Times?

Fox News has numerous left-wing contributors who show up every day, and I find Fox News to be one of two news sources with some balance. The other is the Times Free Press presenting both left- and right-wing views in the editorial section.

Vacations not really a hot letter topic

I’ve been amused by all the letters to the editor lately concerning President Obama’s “excessive” vacations. I wonder if these same concerned citizens wrote letters when other presidents took vacations?

Obama spent 65 days on vacation in 19 months. For comparison, Bush Jr. by that point in his presidency had spent 120 days on vacation in 19 months.

I can think of 30 other better things about which to write a letter to the editor concerning Obama just off the top of my head. Vacations? Really?

Take money-making role from banks

There should only be one source of money: one fountainhead from which flows the nation’s blood to vitalize commerce and industry, ensure economic equality and justice, and safeguard the welfare of the people — the prerogative of creating and issuing the money of the nation should be taken from the private banks and returned to the government.

When President Woodrow Wilson signed into law the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, he unwittingly abrogated the sovereignty of the people. The act gives the authority to create our money as interest-bearing debt to the private banking cartel in which the Fed is the leader. The Act has wrecked our economy and made a mockery of the Constitution.

Social Security, Medicare and other useful government programs aren’t the cause of the massive debt in this country. What’s primarily the cause of the debt is the private banking cartel issuing our money at interest. We can issue our own money without debt. This is a very wealthy country, but the wealth has been transferred from workers and consumers to bankers and the super rich who don’t pay their fair share.

People, you have to realize that private bankers, elected or appointed by no one, rule the world today. See www.monetary.org.

mr. betts, you make a good point..and i don't care much for woodrow wilson for many reasons, but spending more than we take in is very much the major problem with our government.

regarding vacations...you can hardly compare g w bush going to his house in texas or going to camp david as vacation.....obama.... has spent piles of time golfing and has taken lavish vacations at a time when most in this country have been forced to cut back on basics...where's the empathy of on obama's part? there is none..because he's a elitist....michelle obama and her daughters have taken vacations on their own.........why don't you campare what obama has spent on vacations, even weekend outings, compared to bush........the obamas have one standard for themselves and another for the rest of us.

mr. stamp...you're 100% correct....there is balance on fox news...what makes liberals mad is that they get more viewers...especially the more conservative leaning talk shows.......dumping on fox is news is deperation. it's ridiculous...the liberal media, network tv and hollywood are overwhelmingly liberal/leftist...it's not even close.

Fox "News" - the more you watch, the less you know.

Don't you poor people realize that you are shining examples of the effectiveness of propaganda masquerading as news?

Oh, and when you have corporations running your government, you can aford to take as many vacations as you want - you are just as expendable as American workers. They only keep you around for patriotic window dressing - sorta' like the "queen mum'.

Although this can't easily compare the news agency, searching Factcheck.org for "Fox News" gets lots of hits to investigate. Fox even won a case where an employee refused to lie on a news story and was fired. The employee sued and lost. Palin, Huckabee, O'Reilly, Beck all have stretched the truth or tried to mislead. O'Reilly is probably the most honest in the group; Palin is more clueless than dishonest.

Do you really want proof or do you just want to argue the point? I would say to any reasonable fair-minded person if they want to know if Fox News lies, simply watch. It won’t take long for them to have their answer. But I would bet everything I own that no one will change Mr. Tony Stamp's mind. Do you think it is actually a coincidence that he emphatically put his full name? I am sure, he will be hailed as a true hero by his community and friends. However, I don't think there is anything heroic about screaming "Yes Jesus" in the middle of a church service and certainly not Mr. Stamp's letter defending Fox News to a Newspaper in Tennessee.

But is the real problem with Fox for putting out propaganda and misinformation or the viewers who support them? It's neither. The real problem stems from the inclusion of Fox News by authentic agencies that has undermined the credibility of them all. The same Media that found the nerve to publicly skewer Dan Rather, but not for lying. He was dragged through the mud and fired for not having enough collaborating facts to run a story. Now, that same media refuses to call Fox what it is, a tool of the Right Wing Conservatives who’s sole purpose is to skew facts and spit out venomous propaganda. By simply including Fox News in any capacity gives them credibility and their viewers justification that neither deserve or have earned.

Let's face it, anyone who watches Fox that really wants to know the truth about a story or position, could do so easily. The problem is, the people who site Fox News as fact, don't want the truth. These Fox viewers want to watch a channel they agree with or one that pushes the agenda that promotes what is beneficial to them, either morally or financially.

The FCC fell short during the Bush Administration by refusing to put standards on what can and can not be called “News“. Hard to believe, right? However, everyone that considers themselves an American first and their political affiliation secondly should demand Legislation setting ethical guidelines by the FCC. We all should demand truth, regardless of how it effects our politics and since the truth really will set you free, they have nothing to be afraid of.

you libs response to many things is to try and silence or spend gobs of time and energy finding ways to destroy. as much as i feel cbs, nbc, abc..and all the liberaly dominated networks are disgusting,...i would never call for them be silenced.......the fact is fox is dominating the ratings because they do a better job of being balanced....sorry the numbers show it. that's why libs hate talk radio....they have more substance. liberal radio, whatever is left, is a big bore and is mostly a whineathon.

i got news for you, princehal..we are living in kind facist state....overly regulated and intruding into our private lives and in the business community.

mr, mize.....your post is propaganda....and also smacks of a double standard... "watch a channel they agree with or one that pushes the agenda that promotes what is bene- fecial to them, either morally or financially" ....sorry but sounds like you're describing cbs, nbc, abc, msnbc, cnn, pbs, and so on...

what should be sited as fact, mr. mize...all the networks is just mentioned? how about the huffington post? is that better for you?

you're full of it...fox news attracts viewers because they come across as fair and balanced..simple as that.....sometimes the news may be full of things you don't like, that may even make democrats look bad... but, hey that's reality..and sometimes news contains items that make republicans look bad........your favorite networks do a great job of omission...great at not mentioning things.. supressing things...like obama's background. which is not a fabrication by fox news...but part of his history.....

First ratings speak for themselves and Fox TROUNCES the competition...however, the evening shows are not considered news shows and have never been advertised as being news shows, they are opionion broadcasts...the liberal mindset is as warped as the artist formerly known as Keith Olberman...the true news broadcasts at Fox end at 8pm and then the opinion shows take over...GET OVER IT

Tony Stamp - back by popular demand:

"Yet another study has been released that proves that watching Fox News is detrimental to your intelligence. World Public Opinion, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland, conducted a survey of American voters that shows that Fox News viewers are significantly more misinformed than consumers of news from other sources. What’s more, the study shows that greater exposure to Fox News increases misinformation."

SeaMonkey, since you are using a sea creature to pen your comments, when you refer to my actual name, don't be so lazy that you can't capitalize. Although it is not a big shock that I have to clarify this to a Fox defender, but by "facts", I mean TRUTH. (Come on, you left me wide open). . Kidding aside, I would also hold CBS, NBC, ABC and anyone calling themselves a News agency to the same standard which is what FCC regulations would implement. Think about it Sea, it’s my point! Also, you know nothing about where or how I get my news and I still don’t see why you referenced Huffington Post? But, O.K..

It is more than obvious that you are unable to provide a reasonable argument or a cohesive message so you spout insults and are mean spirited. Nice. Of course, someone who brings up the birth certificate of PRESIDENT Obama as history, has a pretty limited concept of validity.

Realize and have enough foresight to understand that it will be the people who manipulated the public with these lies that will be judged negatively by History. I hope you will see that this is not a right or left issue, instead one about right and wrong. Have a good weekend Ms. Monkey.

Fox News reminds me of what Mark Twain said,

"Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you see fit"

FrancisTrollMonkey, once again you forgot what you've said before. Remember, you don't have dish or cable and don't watch Fox.

What a PHONEY !

The only news anyone needs is on the Weather Channel, they can be wrong 50% of the time without being called liers. So, ordinaryguy, if Fox's "true news" ends at 8 PM is that when the False news starts?

Seamonkey - Bush's 120 days of vacation did not include any time spent at Camp David. Besides, my point is that there are many many other things to bash Obama about. Choosing vacation time, especially in light of Bush Jr's, is silly. Bringing up Michelle Obama's vacation time is even sillier.
