Immigration law critics in Alabama: ICE conducting raids

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Opponents of Alabama’s law on illegal immigration say federal authorities are conducting residential raids and arresting dozens of people in north Alabama.

The Montgomery-based Southern Poverty Law Center says officers with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement have raided mobile homes and apartments in at least three sites in Fort Payne and Collinsville this week, apparently targeting heavily Hispanic areas.

Law center attorney Mary Bauer said Friday it’s unclear whether the federal raids are related to the new state law. But she says they’re terrifying to both immigrants and U.S. citizens.

An ICE spokesman didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment. The Obama administration has said it’s concentrating on arresting and deporting criminals living in the country illegally, but critics say actions by ICE go beyond that directive.

It is clear that the Southern Poverty Law Center has no problem with the displacement of millions of U.S. citizens from the job market during a long term economic recession.

They also have no qualms with forcing citizens to accept the degradation of their communities, along with the additional costs associated with the illegal influx of hordes of unscreened(medically or criminally),scamming, non-English speaking, uneducated, unskilled, and indigent foreign nationals.

Just what is the SPLC's agenda - to cause as much harm as possible to poverty stricten Southern U.S. citizens? I thought that they are who they are championing.

Do any of you actually believe these roundups are just for the illegals? Do you really think those private detention centers will just cease to exist once all the illegals are shipped from the country? You'd best think again.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

As many of you have been crying and whining about foodstamp, welfare recipients and people living in public housing, America has been spending billions upon billions of your and my tax dollars monthly for these operations and spending more billions to set up private detention centers around the country that resemble Gulags and concentration camps. Amid protests, one is about to be built in Florida. Once such a monster is created, where greed and money are involved, it will be impossible to close them .

When they come for YOU/me there will be no one left to speak out on our behalf. This is the other* America emerging. The darker more sinister one. Don't think it's never happened before? Where fellow Americans were rounded up in 20TH century and forced into labor? We're not talking about the Japanese Internment Camps either(though that was another darker time in America). There's been others hidden in the bowels of 20TH century America.
