The charge against a 20-year-old wanted in connection with slashing a man’s neck in McMinn County Wednesday night have been upgraded after the victim died today.
Jonathan Jones, 26, of Monroe County, was pronounced dead at noon today at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, according to the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office.
Jones had suffered a serious cut to the neck during a fight last Wednesday night at a home on County Road 480 in McMinn County, officials said.
McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy now says that arrest warrants are been upgraded to second-degree murder for Skiver Millsaps, who is suspected of stabbing Jones.
Sheriff’s officials say Millsaps’ listed address is on Beaty’s Chapel Road near Tellico Plains, but they have not been able to track him down.
“We’ve made several attempts over the past few days to locate Skiver Millsaps in both McMinn and Monroe counties,” Guy said in a released statement. “Things are much more serious now for this young man, and we hope that he or someone close to him will provide us the right information in order to resolve this for the benefit of everyone involved.”
Skiver Millsaps is white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs 165 pounds with a slim build, dark hair and thin moustache.
He may be in a red Dodge Neon with a missing front bumper and in the company of his brother, Haden Millsaps, 18, or his mother, Lynnette Colvin Millsaps, authorities said.
People with information about Skiver Millsaps are asked to contact the McMinn County or Monroe County Sheriff’s Offices or email mcminncrimetips@gmail.com.
