Heart disease killed man in park
A man whose remains were discovered by a child in Renassiance Park in October died of heart condition, a Hamilton County medical examiner's report found.
Chuckie Lynn Headrick, 39, was from Soddy-Daisy and had arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the report states, and likely died in the woods in the park.
The report does not indicate how much time passed between Headrick's death and the discovery of his remains Oct. 17 -- one day before his 40th birthday.
According to his obituary, Headrick felt at home in the outdoors and loved the Cherokee way of life. His family conducted his graveside services and burial Oct. 24 at the Ruth Cofer Cemetery.
Coffee spill leads to jail for man
A 26-year-old man remains in the Hamilton County Jail without bond after he jumped on top of the mother of his child, causing her to spill hot coffee on a 4-year-old at a local McDonald's restaurant, according to a Chattanooga Police Department arrest report.
Allen B. Cooper, of Red Bank, was attempting to take the woman's cellphone and kicked a booster seat occupied by the pair's 9-month-old daughter. Neither child was injured, according to the report.
Cooper and the woman were meeting at the restaurant for a visit supervised by Child Protective Services.
Cooper fled after the incident and was stopped by police after he walked along Rossville Boulevard and got into a car with another man.
In addition to charges of domestic assault and child endangerment, he also was picked up on warrants of reckless endangerment and escape.
Cooper's next court date is set for Jan. 13 before General Sessions Court Judge David Bales.
