A woman was killed Monday in a single-vehicle crash at 1200 Dodson Ave., police said.

Shamecta Heard, 31, was traveling with her daughter and a friend just after midnight Sunday when she lost control of her SUV and it crashed into an abandoned house, Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said.

Heard, who was killed in the crash, was unrestrained and was thrown from the vehicle. Her passengers were taken to a local hospital and were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, Weary said.

Chattanooga police believe that speed is the contributing factor in this accident and stated that no charges will be filed.
