A 14-year-old boy showed up at Parkridge Medical Center about 9 p.m. Friday with a gunshot wound in his shoulder, Chattanooga police said Saturday evening.
The youth told police that he was walking with two girls when two people he knew stepped out from behind bushes and start shooting at him, police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said in a news release.
The boy said he was hit in the shoulder when he turned to run.
Police had received a report at 8:48 p.m. of a shooting at 2285 Wilcox Blvd. but found at the scene, Weary said.
She said police are trying to verify the boy’s story, which has been inconsistent.
The boy is in stable condition, and no one has yet been arrested, Weary said.

It's not uncommon to hear about someone getting shot or killed in one Chattanooga neighborhood. In the last year, as ...

POLICE BRIEFS
A 30-year-old man remains in serious condition Saturday evening with a stab wound, Chattanooga police said.

This shooting happened in a low income area where minorities reign as the majority. How surprising.
This isn't a news story. It's just another daily black on black crime. Black leaders including politicians, NAACP, churches all think this is okay. Seldom do they respond. Another day in the hood.
yaaaaaawn!!
You're absolutely correct lookinfour. Just another day in the hood. The reason no black leaders, politicians or NAACP volunteers are here is that they don't want to get shot.
You are also correct, sage1. Another reason no black leaders, politicians, or NAACP people are there is because they don't need to show up; the black vote is already assured so why rock the boat.
It must be Hell to live under those conditions, and even worse, to stay there.
Not news and not interesting. This is why TFP will NEVER be able to charge for online subscriptions!
This is the result of useless comments like these: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/20...
Including your, Momus!
Wyldmon it's obvious you don't know Momus!
...and thanks for making my point.
Momus, the points made are a light hearted way of pointing out the FACT that black on black crime is an almost daily occurrence in Chattanooga in which people have become knumb too. My point is that even the vocal black leaders don't ever acknowledge the problems. It's just another shooting...oh well.
Thank you lookinfour...sheesh.
But when a cop drops one of these useless leeches on society these "leaders" come out of the woodwork.
There is one place who reprograms these troubled youth and has the lowest recidivism rate in the state. Yet the state is trying to close them based on outlandish LIES. Taft Youth Center has taken the worst of the worst for 90 yrs and still scores higher in every measureable area in YDCs. I urge every citizen to voice their support to their law makers for the people who have dedicated their lives to the troubled teens of this state, There is a rally 1-3-2012 5:00 pm at Bledsoe County Courthouse to support these people and expose the LIES being told by DCS. Everyone is welcome!!!
Sounds like they're just practicing the latest dance moves they learned at the last Club Fathom party.
And so it goes ... as they blame others for everything for another generation.
Sounds like the typical gang related incident to me. The child that was shot is probably afraid to say who actually done the shooting because of it being a gang member! This is the kind of thing Taft Youth Center in Pikeville, TN takes care of. Commissioner of Children Services Katheryn O'Day is proposing to the governor to close it down though. The employees, surrounding counties AND the other institutions need the public's support in the fight to stay open! Taft houses not only juveniles with felonies and heinous crimes but they also take in the juveniles that the other institutions can not handle. It is detrimental to keep Taft open or the whole department of Juvenile Justice will be in ruin. Please show your support and talk to your local representatives (email them.. whatever you are comfortable with). There is also a meeting being held by Senator Stewart at Bledsoe County Courthouse this Tuesday, January 3, 2011 from 5pm til 7pm. Come and see all that will come from it.
