FBI will assist in Palmgren case

The FBI is lending resources to assist in the case of a missing Signal Mountain woman.

Gail Palmgren, 44, of 40 Ridgerock Drive, was last seen April 30.

Her husband, Matthew Palmgren, reported her missing two days later to the Signal Mountain Police Department.

Two weeks later, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office began investigating her disappearance and the FBI offered to lend its resources, said Special Agent Edward Galloway of the FBI's Chattanooga office.

The FBI is not taking a lead role in the investigation, Galloway said, but is offering technical support and letting local authorities access its lab to process any evidence collected in the case.

"We'll help in any way we can and lend any assets," he said.

The federal agency also is reviewing the case along with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which came onboard earlier this month.

After almost three months, it's unclear what happened to Gail Palmgren. Her red Rubicon Jeep remains missing, and she has not used her credit cards since she last was seen, authorities said.

But there has not been enough evidence to decide if there is foul play involved, authorities said, and it remains a missing person case.

Matthew Palmgren has consented to searches of the couple's Signal Mountain home, their Alabama lake house and a Red Bank storage unit, but he has not given a statement to authorities.

Look at the dates...when Gail was reported missing, when the investigation started and it's not rocket science to figure out something very strange/suspect took place with her disappearance. Seems like any help at this point is rather late. Not enough evidence? Why then did BCBS fire her husband? Gail's two children are the ones who suffer...think on that SMPD!

Firing someone requires very little. Charging them with a crime requires actual evidence.

Gail P disappearance and many other women who've suddenly got up and left, seem to all have things in common:

Deteriorating marriage - impending divorce. money

involved (in the case of Gail, the husband was authorized by Gail for two large sums totaling $40,000 then she discovers MP had been withdrawing $300.00 every couple of days - not sure for how long he did that before she caught him doing so. Another woman in the picture (affair). Reports Gail missing after her sister's insistence - not voluntary and two (2) days after she was not heard of. The last time she was spoken to/seen was in her and MP driveway - then reportedly a phone call with/from him on the day she disappeared. MP lawyers up. His mother lawyers up. His mistress TH lawyers up. MP does not give a statement, nor allow the children to be spoken to by authorities. MP has not offered any reward money for clues that could lead to finding Gail, nor has he participated in any searches that have been conducted. MP's actions are suspect. He should be a suspect. Two full weeks after GP went missing, THEN the authorities get on board. His lawyer has computer hardware being looked at by "technicians" but if anything is 'deleted' oh well ! SARCASM.

Its my opinion that MP either had a direct hand in GP's missing/unknown status OR he knows just where she is.

These types of cases are just too similar - why is it men cannot just LET GO and move on? Killing their partner/spouse apparently is better than just paying the dues (i.e child support/split properties) and moving on. SAD.

higherlevel.... why did BCBS fire him ? That is a good question. Funny girl.... its is quite funny how the only person saying that matt was taking out large somes of money is Arlene Durham. But she got that information from DIane and Kevin attorney correct? SO what is the truth .... at this point who knows the real truth but only what one person has portraded as the truth . ... Tenn is a 5050 no fault state for divorce so how would it help MP to do away with his wife... I am sure the money spent so far is alot greater then what a divorce would have cost either of them

Yes, it would be much easier and cheaper just to get a divorce and not kill your wife. Of course it would. Yet time and time again, we see these morons deciding it would be better to kill their wives and spend the rest of their lives in jail instead of just divorcing, moving on with their lives and finding another wife they could be happy with. I agree it would be A LOT easier just to divorce. But, we see men kill their wives over and over again. Everytime I ask myself "Wouldn't it just have been easier to get a divorce?" Yes, it would, but these morons choose murder instead.

That being said I have no idea if Matt Palmgren is involved with Gail's disappearaance. I was just responding to the comment about "it would be easier and cheaper to divorce." Yes, it would but that doesn't seem to stop the many men who kill their wives.

Matt and his girlfriend Tammy were sent out of state to attend a conference for BCBS. It was all paid for by the company. When they arrived, Matt and Tammy didn't bother to attend the conference they just took off. They skipped it. So, basically they had a free out of town trip paid for by BCBS. They let the company pay for their travels, but instead of attending the conference and working like they were suppose to, they had I guess a mini vacation together all expenses paid by BCBS. I think this may be why Matt and Tammy were both fired. Not 100% sure, but I was under the impression they were fired for using the company money to fly out of state and have a rendevous instead of attending conferences that BCBS was sending them too.

And what does that have to do with anything, baygo? Other than gossip value...

That's a lot of insider-type info you posted...care to tell us how you came to know it? Beyond the he said/she said or sister's ex-boyfriend's neighbor's son said type of urban legend stuff, if you please.

@thetruthwillsetyoufree... how unusual a name for this case you have. It has been wildly reported of the amounts of money deducted from accounts prior to Gail's disappearance, and you can be sure her PI and Arlene know the details of such. This, in my opinion, is a homicide. With all the facts to date, there is no other reasoning than that deduction.

rolando...you seem to believe that Matt is pure and innocent of everything...you are as unconcerned about Gail and her children as HE is...

I still say...Gail hasn't called anyone because she CAN'T...and her car is probably sitting at the bottom of some quarry!!

What does that have to do with anything Rolando? The person who commented before me asked why he was fired from BCBS. Duh. I was answering a question. HAha. Read.

And how did I come to know it? The media reported it when he was fired. Haha. Again, read. It's not that hard. Honest. Rolando, too, could have "insider information" if he would bother to read all the info reported on this case.

@truthwillsetyoufree-you ask why MP would do away with his wife if Tenn is a 50/50 state. Well, how about sole custody of the kids!! How about not having to split the property and belongings that they own! Yes maybe all of this is costing more, however, I am sure getting fired from his job wasn't in his plans. "Hey Matt where did you spend that $40,000 you withdrew?" Totally unreal!!
