You can’t spell “How ’Bout Them Dawgs!” without WGOW.
University of Georgia football games will be broadcast this season on WGOW 102.3 FM, one of four Citadel Broadcasting stations in Chattanooga. WSKZ 106.5 FM, which broadcasts University of Tennessee football games, is also a Citadel station.
“I think it is fantastic that we have the Bulldogs on WGOW and the Vols on KZ-106,” said Kevin West, the new programming director at WGOW AM and FM and the news director at all four Citadel stations. “Those are the teams that have the interest in the area.”
WGOW will announce its Georgia football arrangement this afternoon shortly after 4 on “SportTalk,” which is hosted each weekday by Gary “Dr. B” Haskew and Scott “Quake” McMahen. Scheduled to appear on the show via phone are Scott Howard, Georgia’s play-by-play announcer, and former players such as tight end Troy Sadowski (1985-88) and safety Kelin Johnson (2004-07).
Georgia games were on WOGT 107.9 FM, also a Citadel station, from 2004 through last season. When 107.9 changed its format and went from “The Duke” to “Big FM,” the Bulldogs broadcasts were dropped.
West said preliminary plans call for Georgia broadcasts to start 30 minutes before kickoff and to include the postgame show.
