The Hamilton County Commission will vote Thursday morning on the nominatin of Mike Compton as county chief of staff, Mayor Jim Coppinger said.
“He brings a lot to the table from both the public and private sector,” Coppinger said.
If approved, Compton would fill the role once occupied by Jeannine Alday, who retired earlier this month.
Compton currently works as chief administrative officer for Walden Security, which has a contract to provide security services for the county. He served as chief of staff for former mayor Bob Corker from 2001-2005 and held a position as vice president for Corker Group Inc. for more than 20 years.

Does this mean we have to buy another $328,000 website from a former mayor?
Why do we have no say, no review, no disclosed hiring standards, and no chance to apply for these jobs? It's our government. Can we not get an injunction of some kind to require these people to engage in fair and open hiring practices?
You cannot just bypass elections and then pay off your friends with hundreds of thousands of tax dollars! What the hell are these people thinking and doing? This is an outrage! It smacks of criminal conduct, out in the open.
Who do we have to sue to stop these crimes?
You cannot just appoint your friends to public offices in lieu of lawful hiring practices for government executive offices!
At what point in government do we just let rich people king themselves into these six figure jobs?
Why are prosecutors and investigators from TBI and DOJ's FBI not protecting us on this?
What the hell is going on?
We need to throw some rich politicians in handcuffs today! Somebody get in there and arrest these people! This cannot be lawful conduct. How on earth is this justified by what Tennessee Title Code?
