Man charged in East Ridge stabbing.

A man police say was involved in a fight that left three people with knife wounds has been charged with aggravated assault, East Ridge police say.

Police arrested Michael Brown, 29, after piecing together the events that led to a fight between him and his brother-in-law Asika Witherow at the Fountainbleau Apartments on Spring Creek Road in East Ridge on Sunday, according to police spokesman Erik Hopkins.

Police report that Brown pulled a knife and slashed Askia Witherow across the back of the neck, Hopkins said. The two struggled on the floor, and Brown was stabbed in the left side of his abdomen. Heather Witherow’s hand was cut when she tried to break up the fight, Hopkins said.

Brown is slated to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on April 5.
