High school sports stars of Wednesday, Aug. 31

Chance Davis, Hixson: She set 40 assists to go with her 12 digs, six kills and two aces in the Lady Wildcats' 3-2 volleyball victory over Boyd-Buchanan.

Lindsey Yates, Baylor: Her 16 assists and eight digs were team highs and the Lady Red Raiders beat Walker Valley 3-0.

Alex Shafer, Soddy-Daisy: The Lady Trojans defeated GPS 3-0 with Shafer sparking the play at the net with 10 kills and five blocks.

Andrew Weathers, McCallie: His 33 was the best score in the Blue Tornado's 143-165 golf victory over Chattanooga Christian at Brown Acres.

Clark Melton, Walker Valley; David Weeks, Notre Dame: Sixteen boys' teams competed in Coffee County's Red Raider Classic at Willowbrook and the Mustangs' Melton's 68 was the lowest score. Weeks shot 71 for the Irish, who were the highest-finishing local team after edging McMinn County for second place.

Caroline Stitts, GPS: Her 41 at Brown Acres was the low round when the Bruisers defeated Chattanooga Christian 85-98.
