Hamilton County schools top 42,000 students

Hamilton County Schools have 42,236 students enrolled, according to 20th day enrollment figures released today.

The school system conducts head counts at each school on the first, fifth, seventh, 10th, 16th and 20th days of classes. Wednesday was the 20th day of classes for county students.

Elementary schools have added 209 students, 267 students, while high schools have lost 190 students over the 20th day last year.

System-wide, schools have added 286 students over the same time last year.
