An investigation is under way in a fatal crash Friday night on Hixson Pike, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The victim, Vicki Pippin, 39, of Hixson, was driving north on Hixson Pike in a Nissan Quest when a Mercury Sable driven by Milton Quin III, 22, entered from a side street, crossed several traffic lanes and hit the Quest in the left front, according to a news release from spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

Pippin died at the hospital, the release stated. Two children in the Quest, ages 10 and 3, were injured, as was Quin.

Atkinson said the sheriff's office traffic division is investigating.

Man charged in store robbery

Patrol officers have charged Tedarrius Myles, 20, with aggravated robbery in connection with a holdup at a mini-market at 910 Dodson Ave. on Thursday.

The clerk at Faye's Quick Stop told police a black male armed with a gun came to the counter and demanded money, then stole a carton of cigarettes. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans and a blue-and-white bandana over his face.

Officers responding to the call saw a man fitting the suspect's description a few blocks from the store. They stopped him and found a gun, a carton of cigarettes and a wad of cash, police said.

Drive-by shooting reported Friday

Witnesses told East Ridge police that four shots were fired at a home on 3402 Frawley St. from a blue Ford Explorer on Friday night. An adult and five children were inside.

Officers arrived about 11 p.m. and found two bullet holes in the front window and a third in an exterior wall.

Two youths in the home told police they had an altercation at a football game with several known gang members, which may have motivated the incident.
