Kathrina Maclellan

The people of our Chattanooga community were graced by the Christian service and charming personality of Kathrina (Mrs. Robert L.) Maclellan, whose 99 years of exemplary life came to a close Monday at her home on Lookout Mountain.

Lovingly and familiarly known as "Kitty," she was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as an outstanding citizen and energetic community leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, civic and business leader Robert Llewellyn Maclellan, who died in 1971, after many years of community leadership and the chairmanship of Chattanooga's fine Provident Life and Accident Insurance Co.

Kitty Maclellan was a devoted Christian lady and a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, serving in multiple positions on the church's Board of Women.

A graduate of Sweet Briar College, she exuded a sweet, modest, loving, constructive personality, with vigorous service in many organizations, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution, Junior League, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, the YWCA, Team Evaluation Center, Review Club, Senior Neighbors, Lookout Mountain Garden Club, King College, Helen M. Tipton Charitable Trust, Christian Education Charitable Trust, the Maclellan Foundation, Covenant College and countless charitable service organizations.

Her presence always expressed her optimistic character.

Her life, as well as her love for countless Chattanoogans and for her community as a whole, will be long remembered with great admiration and appreciation.
