Firefighters believe lightning may have caused of a fire at an East Ridge home today.
The fire began in the attic about 4 p.m., and fire crews were able to keep it contained to that area, East Ridge Public Safety Spokesman Erik Hopkins said in a news release.
All occupants of the home were safely evacuated, according to the release.
The homeowner said she heard a loud boom before she smelled smoke in her home.
