Atlanta police search for missing toddler

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are searching for a toddler whose mother says she last saw him more than a week ago.

Atlanta police said Thursday Laquanda Burley told them she met a woman by the name of “Sylvia” at the Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA station. Burley tells police she dropped her 23-month-old son, Malachi, off to visit for a week with the woman around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.

Burley says she hasn’t heard from her son or the woman since then. She hasn’t been able to provide any additional information on “Sylvia,” such as a last name, phone number or physical address.

Attempts to reach Burley at two phone numbers listed under her name were unsuccessful Thursday afternoon.
