Boyd-Buchanan overcame a strong start by the Chattanooga Patriots to claim fifth place in the Best of Preps Basketball Tournament at Chattanooga State Saturday. Justus McMillan led the rally from a 23-14 deficit after the first period with 22 points, with Hall Allen and Austin Walker adding 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Also in the boys' bracket, North Jackson edged Red Bank, 54-52, for seventh place behind 17 points from Seth Rowe and 16 from Andrew Kirk. Fred Matthews and Malik Davis topped Red Bank with 13 points each.
On the girls' side, East Hamilton rolled to a fifth-place finish behind Juliette Harp's 17 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady Hurricanes (7-6) also received eight assists and seven rebounds from guard Jessica Caudle, while Mariah Massengill topped Silverdale (8-5) with 20 points.
Brainerd earned seventh place with a 50-42 win over Arts & Sciences as Jamee Ward scored 20 points and Anisha Douglas added 15. Keturah Billen topped CSAS with 15 points.
