Police name drivers in fatal Hixson Pike crash

Chattanooga police on Sunday identified the drivers in a Saturday afternoon wreck on Hixson Pike that left one man dead and another in the hospital.

Police spokesman Nathan Hartwig said 54-year-old Mark Phillips died after his Chevrolet Impala was hit by a Ford F-150 pickup.

Phillips was driving north on Hixson Pike when 68-year-old Warren Elliott was merging onto the roadway from Highway 153. Elliott’s truck crossed the median and hit Phillips’ car.

Elliott remains in serious condition at Erlanger hospital. Police may file charges pending results of their investigation, Hartwig said.
