Man charged in murder try

A woman was strangled and suffered serious head and facial injuries Friday night.

The victim, 40, told Chattanooga police she was beaten by Alex Vincente, 31, who has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide, police spokesman Nathan Hartwig said in a news release Saturday evening.

He said officers responded to a domestic assault call at 1312 E. 36th St. on Friday at 8:15 p.m when they found the unnamed victim. She was taken to Erlanger hospital.

Officers recover two meth labs

A Scottsboro, Ala., man has been charged with methamphetamine manufacture after officers seized two "one pot" or "shake and bake" meth labs and meth ingredients, according to a news release.

Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said his officers found a small amount of marijuana and the paraphernalia at a residence on Joy Drive in Scottsboro and arrested Alan Whitley in connection with the drugs.

Whitley was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
