A Fyffe, Ala., man has been charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, DeKalb County authorities said today.
After an investigation and interview with the alleged victim, John Allen Lingerfelt, 46, was charged with six counts of the offense and is being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center on $120,000 bond, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in the release that authorities acted after the state Department of Human Resources conducted a “routine interview” with the child and then contacted the district attorney’s office.
Harris said the investigation is continuing.
