Under Construction: Workers building Bojangles in East Brainerd

• Status: Workers are excavating the property and have built the ground pad. Next, Superintendent Ron Jones says workers will install utilities. Contractors should complete the building and Bojangles should be serving chicken by September, Jones said.

• Staff: 30 to 50 employees when completed with about 30 to 40 workers involved in construction.

• Features: Bojangles specializes in chicken and biscuits. The chain, founded in 1977 by Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas in Charlotte, N.C., now has more than 500 restaurants. The company has restaurants in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and a handful of other states in the Southeast U.S. In the Chattanooga area, Bojangles already has opened restaurants in Cleveland, East Ridge, Hixson, Ooltewah and Fort Oglethorpe. This will be the first restaurant in East Brainerd, according to the company's website.
