New details have emerged in the Bradley County Sheriff's Office investigation into the death of a 3-year-old boy on Thursday.
The boy, River Bates, died Thursday while in an ambulance en route to SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland. His brother, 5-year-old Leland Bates, is still being treated at Children's Hospital at Erlanger after being transported by the LifeForce helicopter, said sheriff’s office spokesman Bob Gault.
The boy's mother, Tasha Moses, called 911 just before 3 p.m. to report a possible drowning involving her children, Gault said. The call came from her father's home at 851 Armstrong Road, he said.
Deputies learned that the children had been taken from 879 Keith Valley Road to Armstrong Road because there was no phone at the Keith Valley Road location, Gault said.
At this time the investigation is ongoing by the Criminal Investigations Division.
