Manager shot at Brainerd gas station in botched robbery

A manager coming to pick up a deposit at the Murphy USA gas station near the Walmart in Brainerd was shot this afternoon by a would-be robber.

The manager, who has not been named, was shot in the arm, a non-life-threatening wound, during the botched robbery attempt, Chattanooga police said.

About 3:30 p.m., as the manager walked toward the gas station, located at 490 Greenway View Drive at the end of the Walmart parking lot, a man clad in dark clothing pulled a gun and attempted to rob him.

After firing a shot, the robber took off into a nearby wooded area, which police are currently searching with dogs. Neither the robber nor a weapon has been found, police said.

The robber did not get any money, police said.

The Brainerd Levee is shut down but Brainerd Road is open.
