Three people, including two children, died today in a single-vehicle crash in Rhea County, and a 20-month-old child was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital.

Rhea County dispatchers said the driver was a 20-year-old and the children were 4 and 12. Their identies were being withheld until next of kin are notified.

The crash in the 2200 block of Back Valley Road was reported at 2:23 p.m. The driver lost control on the small country road and hit a brick mailbox, dispatchers said.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
